NDC Collaborates With UI...

With the desire to improve the capacity building effort of the Armed Forces of Nigeria through the pursuit of enviable academic Master and Doctorate degree programmes of the Institute for Peace and Strategic Studies (IPSS), University of Ibadan. Recently, the National Defence College Nigeria under the auspice of the Commandant, Rear Admiral Adeniyi Osinowo signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the University of Ibadan.

 

THE SIGNED MoU BETWEEN NDC AND UI

 

Giving his remarks during the occasion which took place at the premises of University of Ibadan, the Commandant explained that the MoU was most important especially at this period when the issue of insecurity in the country was taking serious toll. He said the MoU would provide the much needed strategic manpower development and further upgrade the level of existing collaboration between the College and the University. He reiterated that this will provide platform for both serving and retired Generals to be availed with the opportunity to study up to doctorate degree and will also go a long way to enhance the consummation of the MoU.

 

Speaking on the reputation of the University, the Commandant described the University of Ibadan as a centre of excellence for strategic training for the Armed Forces, where Nigerian nationals and foreigners can obtain both Masters and Doctorate Degrees. In his words, “University of Ibadan is indeed suitable for this collaboration”.

 

PRIOR TO THE SIGNING OF MoU AT THE UNIVERSITY OF IBADAN

 

The Vice Chancellor of the University Professor Abel Idowu Olayinka while giving his remarks confirmed the assertion of the Commandant by declaring that the relationship between the College and the University was a veritable example of public partnership. He described the existing relationship between the two institutions as a real public partnership.

 

Professor Olayinka disclosed that the University was in recent time concentrating more on its postgraduate programmes. With the advent of more desire of the Doctorate degree programme they however reduced the total supposed number of undergraduate to be taken into the various available courses of the University from 8000 to 3500. However, he promised the members of the Armed Forces of the readiness of the University to do all things possible to support them as in relation to the area covered by the already signed MoU between the two Institutions.
