NDC, UK DEFENCE ACADEMY AND CRANFIELD
UNIVERSITY HOST DEFENCE AND SECURITY MANAGEMENT COURSE

The National Defence College (NDC) in
collaboration with the Defence Academy of the United Kingdom and
Cranfield University, have successfully hosted a 2 week course on
defence and security management.
The course which took place between 30
November – 3 December 2009 had 30 participants from the Ministry of
Defence, the Nigerian Army, Navy and Air force. Others were from the
NDC, the Nigeria Police, Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Nigeria
Customs. Participants were exposed to an elaborate programme which
included lectures on leadership and ethics, strategic analysis and
planning, natural security strategy, civil-military relations and
defence transformation. Others were transparency and accountability,
defence management, defence spending, nsk management and human
resources management.
The Commandant of the NDC, Rear
Admiral John Jonah enjoined the participants to use skills acquired
to exercise independent and optimal judgment in matters related to
security. The second course is scheduled to hold in January 2010.
