The participants of the Course 14 of the National Defence College, Abuja recently marked the National Defence College Red Cross Day.

The annual event is a forum for the introduction and presentation of the International Committee of the Red Cross to the participants who are drawn from Nigeria and other countries (African and international).

Mr. Christoph Harnisch, who is the ICRC Delegate General for Africa, observed that the ICRC has strived over the years to provide humanitarian response to conflicts on the African continent.

The event is aimed at: promoting the inclusion of International Humanitarian Law particularly the four Geneva Conventions of 1949 into military training and operational procedures and also at promoting acquintance and interaction between the two organisations as strategic stakeholders in conflicts and conflict resolution.
